YCCMB
So, Sarko spent the day "helping the police with their enquiries" in Nanterre, then. Political vendetta, or just a case of "He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy!"
suein56
Last year there were articles in the French press that this might happen; what is interesting is how long it has taken to get him to the police station.;Perhaps he is just worse at keeping his misdemeanours hidden than the other political scoundrels.Sue
idun
In the news recently there have been things about a possible political come back and also that he may have to help the police with their enquiries.Today, it would seem is the latter.
NormanH
I think that this is as much the revenge of the 'juges d'instruction' whose independence Sarkozy wanted to hobble, as any stratagem from the government. They could hardly doctor his dodgy campaign accounts, whereas the juge can decide how to proceed with the case..There is the additional charge of promising a job to a leading lawyer in exchange for information on the progress of a previous case, and again I can't see how that can be trumped up.No doubt he will be relaxed....
