Chancer
I saw that I had recieved another 10/10 review on booking.com but was intrigued as to why it was marked "this review is hidden as it doesnt meet our code of conduct" or something similar. Trawling through my account I found the text of the review and I guess its just as well that they didnt print it, here it is except I have removed part of it which a certain person would claim to be libellous were he to hear of it, suffice to say it appears they met my best friend the Maire [;-)] Location to the Somme battlefields and central to all major areas of interest.fully equipped studio, ideal to be able to do your own thing! Helpful and friendly owner. The attitude of the French people in this area is very poor and disrespectful. (deleted text) Local people not friendly and quite hostile towards English. Someone should remind them that they have over a million British and commonwealth soldiers lives to thank for their freedom and and not just an excuse for a national holiday day. We were harassed and rudely treated by several local people in the Picardy region, who seem to relish in their ignorance and proud of their aggressive attitude towards British visitors. A GB number plate seems to be a target for bad driving and road rage for the FrenchThey were here for the 11th November commémorations of the armistice. Loiseau
Gosh, Chancer; it's not just you they hate then? ?I have to say that during my fairly numerous research visits to your area (before you had the biz up and running, in case you accuse me of not booking chez toi!), I have always found the Somme battlefield-area locals reasonably affable. I won't say "friendly", exactly, but never downright rude as seems to be the case with your reviewer.I do drive a GB-reg car when there, but I do speak good French so maybe that smoothes the way a bit.Angela
Chancer
Everything that happened to them I have experienced and far worse but I think they were unlucky to have had it all in one go so as to speak, I think their reasonable understanding of French meant they understood things that went above my head for the first few years. They were a couple of pensioners as well so not trouble makers, one was a real diplomat:peacemaker but he had his work cut out, they arrived to find the entire road blocked and all of my frontage by inconsiderately parked cars and me being very diplomatic but forcefull with the C.E. next door to get them to move the vehicles, it happens every year when they give out carloads of free Christmas présents to the families of the workers with children, people who are of an age where they have the most appalling attitude especially the mothers, its resolved every year with them reluctantly putting up barriers to stop the selfish *******s but only after protest, never beforehand and they make it clear that I am the one bothering them, not the other way round. I experienced an aggressive driver (well there have been hundreds) but this guy was suicidal, so desperate to get past he would have killed his-self, maybe me and definitely the occupants of the car coming the other way had I not prevented him, when I pulled up at my friends house he stopped and I thought it was for a punch up but he was the tenant of the studio in my friends fermette, after the introductions were made I asked him why he was driving like a (wont repeat the word I chose) he said he didnt know the car was RHDn,he could see my head above the RH seat but nothing above what he thought was the drivers seat so it must have been a woman driving, it was being driven fast (as I did in those days) therefore he had to get past because she was a women, but it was the way he said it, with complete assurance that I would understand that shook me because only a few days earlier an English couple were telling me that they were scared to death by an identical incident when she was driving. I look forward to seeing you and the Wooly man here one day Angela.
lindal1000
Your last paragraph made me smile. That is not a Picardy thing or even a French thing. I have a strategy for it..I drive at 10k below the speed limit as close to the centre line as I can. It usually has the desired effect!
Chancer
Ha Ha, that only happens to the good looking ones Lindal [:D] Us men have very simple genetic programming, we come out of the womb pre-programmed with one of 2 options regarding attractive women in desirable or sporty vehicles, either it turns us on or its taken as a threat to our (percieved) masculinity and triggers an ugly reflex response.
