Hoddy
I read in the Sudouest that there has been an outbreak of avian flu in parts of the Dordogne as well as in other areas of the south-west to the extent that Japan has put a ban on the import of foie gras. I mentioned this in a couple of emails to my French neighbours, but neither of them has mentioned it in their replies.Does anyone know to what extent the goose and duck farms are affected ? Patf
I've just been looking this up on Google. Already knew of the Dordogne cases, and there are quite a few in the Landes. Today an outbreak has been confirmed in a business in Mirande, near us. A large concern, with pintades and ducks. It's very worrying, last time the advice was to put netting over your chicken runs to stop the wild birds getting in, as they're supposed to be spreading the disease. woolybanana
Perhaps the exceptionally mild winter may be allowing the bugs to proliferate?
