idun
I have asked my friends in the UK about this, but will ask on here too to get a more general idea, perhaps. In France, yet another friend of my sons has killed himself, this is the 4th. They have also lost several friends in car accidents, the first being when my eldest was 5, his best little friend at maternelle. And whilst talking to my best friend in France, their nephew has recently killed himself too.Is the suicide rate higher in France? feels like it to my family, when such sad events have touched us over the years. Loiseau
I used to feel the suicide rate was higher in France, too, idun. I put it down to guns and ammunition being so much more accessible (shotguns displayed proudly on living-room wall, etc). And the number who die on the road is very sad, too, often in the small hours returning along twisty country roads from a boîte de nuit.Angela
idun
No guns, hanging seems to be the prefered method so far for the young and one overdose.
andyh4
The French rate is nearly double that of the UKhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_suicide_rate
