paradis
At the beginning of October we were anxious as we had not received notices of either tax foncieres or d'habitation. We went to our local tresor and discovered the tax foncieres had been sent to an address in UK that we sold 2 years ago. We paid the bill and asked about the tax d'habitation. The clerk on the desk checked the computer and told us there was nothing to pay. We queried this as we had never heard of it before and we as we have a TV the licence should be included within that tax. She checked again and confirmed zero to pay. She suggested it was because we are on a low income. Has anyone else had any similar experience? Paradis
Sunday Driver
The TF and TdH are issued by your local tax office. The Tresor Public are only responsible for actually collecting the tax, so if no bill has been issued, they'd have no record of it.You need to contact your tax office to sort things out. [/quote]Yes. I made very little last year and put in a low return. No tax de habitation bill this year. Did get a seperate TV licence bill, however. Benjamin
ParadisIf the tax return you made this year (for 2005) was your first one and you only declared part of a year's earnings then this could be the reason that your income is below the TdH threshold. This seems to be a recurring theme when TdH is mentioned.Benjamin

Cassis
Snap - low income declared 2005, next to no TdH this year. Still had to pay full TV licence though. I recall reading on the TdH/TV demand that low income does not exempt you from TV licence unless you are over an age threshold or claiming income support.
