Moving Within France

Our house is sold and we have signed the Compromis de Vente for a new house about 15 mins away.  Have no problem with notaires or estate agents and the current owners want to sign the Acte Definitif on 10th December - yipeeeeeee.

My question - how do I go about notifying the various agencies in France about our move, what information do I need to supply and how much notice do I need to give them?   Is there, anywhere, a standard letter I can send to all the agencies?

By agencies I mean, Bank, EDF, Saur (water), Hotel des Impots, house insurance, car insurance, Carte Vitale, France Telecom,, Internet Provider, and can anyone think of anything else as I'm sure I'm missing something.

For re-direction of your post you can complete a form at your local bureau (at a cost) but I find this helps because if you have forgotten anyone it will become apparent fairly quickly.

Our postal redirection in France seems to be working well, and yes, any omissions do come to light that way.

For 34 € at your local post office, you get your post redirected for a period of 6 months and a pack containing letters / postcards that you can send to various administrations to inform them of your change of address. Very useful.

Why not ask your estate agent to arrange the water, EDF & France Telecom ? Are you with the local French agents in Pompadour begining with 'B'? If so you will find them more than helpful in getting these bits done for you.

B has been very helpful so far and very friendly, so I think I may well do that, and also get the postal pack too.  He has already offered his "hanger" in case we need to store furniture, etc.
