alittlebitfrench
I went to a 'sport injury' doctor today. Who stuck a big needle in my arm and it hurt . Loverly doctor mind you. But that is not the point of the thread. His daughter lives and works in the UK. Which is great. But every time I see/meet a doctor, hairdresser, someone from IKEA...they have a relative that works in the UK.This week I have been racially abused because I am 'Anglais'. Apparently I work too hard !! ???Anyway, there are are more French living in the UK than British living in France. What conclusions can we draw from that ? Hoddy
I was once told by a man who works in a hi-tech area that many of the French in London are women in their late twenties/early thirties who believe that they will have a better chance of promotion than they would in France where it's a case of "dead man's shoes". I've no idea if this is true though.

alittlebitfrench
There was news feature on French TV (a good 8 -10 years back) about a very young French girl who qualified as a 'serveuse/waitress' in France and then went to work in London as a waitress. Within a year she was managing the restaurant. The whole shebang. Now, had she stayed in France.....that would never of happened. NOT !!!!! in a million years. She would still be on shît wage going nowhere in her life. Draw your own conclusions !!!

There are dozens more. alittlebitfrench
Do the French living in the UK have dumb forums where they talk about great customer service and how cheap the food is in the UK. LOL. How do I get my French reg clio through an MOT test with no bumpers. The last place I lived in the Uk before moving to France, the local pub was owned..........yes you guessed it by a French bloke. The place was packed every night. And he was rude. But everyone loved him for being rude. He was French. You would sit at the bar waiting for him to be rude to someone. Tis true that. One day (lunchtime) an important bloke walked into the pub with his secretary and being an important bloke and obviously trying to impress his secretary (half his age) asked if him if sold 'Fine French Wines'.He did not realise the landlord was French. It did not end well for the important bloke. YCCMB
Yep. Or they did. All of the above. Plus more French-style stuff like "how to get away with not buying a TV licence" and "no need to buy a train ticket if you follow these easy steps..."And long ago, I remember a many-paged thread entitled "Comment draguer une anglaise?"?? cajal
French teachers have lived in London for decades. When I lived there and whenever I was in the Soho area nearly every other door displayed a hand written sign advertising 'French lessons given upstairs. Ring bell twice and ask for Fifi. Discretion assured'.
