Patf
I HATE all mosquitoes. And especially these ones. Most creatures have a positive aspect, but not mosquitoes.Another result of global warming.
YCCMB
Just to put into perspective the risk of infection...France is registering a couple or under 10 cases a year ( and not every year) of dengue fever. Each year, about 390 million cases occur worldwide. (WHO).
woolybanana
Thank you, Norman. I shall probably be ticked off for saying it is another illegal immigrant!By the way, is it the single engined 1st WW version or the twin engined. 2WW version?
richard51
You will be ticked off by me for bringing the subject up on this thread.Bet somewhere along the line one of your ancestors was illegal and imprisoned.Probably pretty much all Americans/ UKers are or have ancestors who have been. Gardian
You really do have an uncanny knack for ‘flattening’ a thread, don’t you? What started as Norman’s ‘info for everybody’ post, has descended in to an attack, albeit (for you) in quite a mild one. You just don’t get it do you? Your contributions are usually quite unpleasant and confrontational. Differences of opinion can be expressed in a much more civilised manner than I’ve ever heard you express them. Your ‘skill’ is that you never go so much over the top as to get yourself banned - although I really do wonder whether there’s any moderation on here these days. mogs
As I'm in dept 24 which appears red I gather we are at risk? What can we do to protect ourselves? Our garden has loads of citronella.
woolybanana
It is odd that the remedy is not out there first, mugs. Maybe talk to the commune if, big IF, they know what is going on.
Patf
The main thing is not to have any static water nearby where they can breed.Avoid going out in the evening when they're more active.Cover up.
richard51
gardian - if you note correctly it was WB with his flippant comment that was initially inappropriate.

woolybanana
Ahso, this illegal immigrant is getting into Europe via Malta. Can these boatloads of buzzing creatures not be turned away, sent back to the country from which they came to spread death and destruction there rather than polluting the good, clean countries of the EU. He lived in Axat Quillan is a crap town lived nearby for two years and left[/quote]Leaving aside your undoubtedly perceptive view of towns in southern Aude, which I find quite pleasant, I add a couple of remarks about Quillan, a past moderator of, and prolific contributor to, this forum.Actually he lived in Belvianes, between Quillan and Axat, where he owned and ran a popular and successful B&B for several years.I don't now him personally, but have corresponded with him occasionally. After unfortunately losing his beloved wife, and suffering a series of strokes, he is now back in the UK where he is being properly looked after, as befits a very courageous ex serviceman.I'm sure others on here who appreciated his input in the past will want to wish him well. Gardengirl
Nomoss, thank you for your post about Quillan; sad that he’s been through a really bad time but heartening that he’s being cared for properly. I certainly wish him well.
NormanH
I second that. He has been a pillar of this Forum and it is sad that he can no longer continue to be with us.I believe that one of his family keeps in touch.Thank you nomoss for a generous appreciation of him. Patf
I'm sorry to hear about Quillan's problems. He put a lot of effort into this forum, but said he had problems just before he left.
Gardian
Yes, agree with all of that.I recall that, although it had no relevance for me, he often provided what seemed to be experienced but common sense advice to existing and would-be gite operators. woolybanana
Yes, was upset to hear of his troubles. We did chat irregularly and as someone said, he was a voice of reason when things used to get rather hot here.Last I heard he was having a house built and was giving up sailing.Does anyone know how bad his strokes are, can he email still.I know he has a son or more who will be looking after him as needed, I am sure. All the best Chris. YCCMB
Poor old Quillan. I'm glad he's closer to family and support. He trod a thankless path on here often, and stuck at it longer than most. Wishing him well.
