Teamedup
What sort of help do you want?I have said this in the past and I have not changed my mind. There is NO WAY I would not be married in France if was living with someone. I can ofcourse think of a few things where one could have problems, but for 98% of the time, being legally joined is the only way for me.I have absolutely no religion at all, this is about a legal contract between two people who love one another. One just never 'knows'.
Nick Trollope
HELP
AFAIK, co-habitees have the same rights in France as they do in the UK - none or none different - a civil partner has no rights to an estate, mortgages are held "joinly & severally", just as a married couple, etc etc..What was the question?BTW, IANAL!! Crevette
In todays "metro" there is an article about how the co-habitation laws are changing very soon. If you are in Paris then try and get a copy!-Rob-
Teamedup
Now this does get up my nose. Why are governments wasting time and money getting rights for people who can have rights easily, if they want, by just by signing up for a contract that already exists. Tresco
Well there is one largeish group of people who may appreciate PACS. Gay couples can't marry here, can they?
Dick Smith
Gay couples can't marry in the UK either, they can undertake a 'civil partnership' which gives the partners some of the rights given to married couples.

Gay couples can't marry here, can they?
From what I can remember the PACS was passed with homosexual couples in mind. I'm sure many would marry if they could, but they can't. Ofcourse they had to make a general rule about this in this PC age.
Cat
Wasn't this one of the things that Sarko was talking about on TF1 on Monday night? Didn't he promise to introduce an alternative to the PACS, for gay couples that wanted a ceremony at the Mairie?
Will
I am sure I have seen somewhere that gay couples and heterosexual couples do not enjoy the same rights under the PACS - in fact I think the gay partners may actually have more rights.
