Cacknanty
We (4 of us) own a property in France as an SCI.A letter was awaiting for us on our latest visit from the above orgainsation requesting (or requiring) that we pay €74.31 and also a copy of each of our passports.I have searched this forum and it appears that it is some form of directory/register of societies/businesses.I have looked on the website and found the (brief) entry for our SCI.My question is, is this a compulsory thing or is it yet another business directory 'scam'We do struggle with the French legalese a bit ! Quillan
No its not a scam, its real and its a form of court where businesses are registered especially SCI's. Try a google on Greffe Du Tribunal De Commerce and you should find the one nearest you (the one you got the letter from).
Pickles
Just be careful that it really IS the Greffe Du Tribunal De Commerce that has contacted you and not a third party that wants your money. As Quillan indicates, check the address to which they want you to return payment.RegardsPickles
NormanH
Never pay anything, or send any personal details in answer to some thing like this, without first checking out face to face that is it genuine. You could lose the money, but worse your identity, in a identity theft scam
