mint
Does anyone know whether there are French equivalents of these bodies?I have recently been sorely tempted by some fantastic-looking offers from French travel companies but, before parting with my hard-earned, I'd like to know whether there are compensation schemes in place should the worst case scenario happens and the travel firm goes bankrupt? In decades of using travel firms in the UK, I have only ever had one occasion when the company couldn't fulfil its offer but I had no problem getting the flight money back and arrangements were made with another travel firm for the same holiday without my having to make any claims or even change travel dates.Do similar fallback schemes exist in France and, if so, what are they called and how do you go about asking about their terms and conditions? Cat
I've no experience of them myself, but APS L'Association Professionnelle de Solidarité du Tourisme or SNAV Syndicat Nationale des Agences de Voyages ?
andyh4
And if you pay with a credit card there are often guarantees on payments made.
mint
Thank you, Cat and andyh4.Yes, that's a very good point about the credit card. Much quicker to claim back off the card company than to go through those organisations.
