loirelover
Where would you reccommend to visit the best gorges? We went to several in the Verdon region two years ago but feel this is too far this year from the Centre region where our house is (near Loches). Any reccomended overnight places would be welcome also

Catalpa
Gorges de l'Ardèche - though not particularly accessible from where you are. Stunning, though. We drove along the river one day years ago when we were staying just south of Le Puy-en-Velay... my favourite town in France.
andyh4
+1 for Gorge de l'Ardèche but maybe I am slightly biased. Gorge de la Bourne in the Vercors - very narrow at the top and geat fun when you meet a logging wagon coming the other way.Combe Laval - also in the Vercors - approach it from the top to have your mind totally blown.Petits et Grands Goulets - once again in the Vercors - if it is open. It was shut for a number of years and I am not sure of its current status.
