mint
I don't like the lockdown any more than anyone else. But I do admire the firm message that is sent out, leaves you in no doubt what you are expected to do.
alittlebitfrench
That was a given Norman.I'm guessing the summer hols in France will be on hold as well. Or certainly limited.I can't imagine crowded beaches in the med or crowded campsites. Can you ?I fact, I think tourism in France will be a low key affair this summer. Very little foreign tourists. If you are British (or other nationality) and have booked a Dordogne gîte, I would cancel. Just ain't going to happen.Buying a house moving to France....just forget it. BTW...the BAC is not happening this year and I think kids won't be going back to school until September. I think we can safely say that France is closed until the rentrée. woolybanana
Bloody pessimist, ALBF. By the way, why is France going to encourage very small people to visit the country this tourist season? Can they pack more into rooms, airplanes, trains etc??

NormanH
What is wrong with Weston Super Mare ?Thick as pig shît.One thing I hope after this nightmare, is that Tourism is scaled back. Ryanir and easyjet go out of business.Like I said, France is a much nicer place without it.

idun
Re the BAC, that will be like some exams here and as has been pointed out, by those studying for these exams, that when they did their mocks, that they decided to work harder for the actual exam and get better marks. My friend's son in France was moyenne, very bright but lazy and when they did their mocks, realised that he no longer wanted to be 'moyenne' and worked and got a really good BAC. This 'system' of measuring in either country is not good, and I think in the future the results should be treat with scepticism.
idun
Holidays, well, unless booked, then who will really be booking until the last minute. Also, getting overseas may well be very problematic. I know where I am going after this, well at some point, and hopefully this year, it's not far, but somewhere I love.

nomoss
I agree with ALBF on Brit and other guiris ruining France, and also Spain. We moved to Mallorca in 1980, mainly because our children's school in Cornwall, where we had intended to settle permanently after 18 years overseas, was so dreadful, and Palma at the time had more English speaking schools than anywhere else in Spain. We bought a house in a quiet suburb, because it was at the end of the bus route and motorway into Palma, and not too far from their school.Gradually the holiday resort next door to us became busier each summer, as more and more package tourists came. They eventually came all year round, the resort overflowed into our town until the two became indistinguishable, and we couldn't go anywhere local that wasn't infested with loud-mouthed, mainly British, yobs of both sexes wandering shouting and spewing in the streets every night. We moved to France for a more peaceful life, first spending mainly the summer months here, but eventually we reluctantly sold our home in Spain, after deciding that the town was becoming an even worse place to live.We haven't been back to Mallorca since May 2004, although we go to the mainland several times each year, staying well away from anywhere served by Ryanair et al.
