03Andrew
Hello We are selling our holiday home in France to English buyers. They are supposedly cash buyers but now want to delay the completion date by over a month due to “personal circumstances” Are they able to do this? Is there a maximum time for a delay in completing. The Notaire says the date has to be agreed by both parties. The completion could take place in the next week as everything is ready to go.
Sunday Driver
If you check your compromis de vente, it'll probably contain a completion date with "or soon after". This is to take into account any unforeseen delays which might arise during the conveyancing process. So, it's not unusual for the date to be adjusted to accommodate one of the parties who may have genuine reasons and as your notaire says, it'd done by mutual agreement. Babbles
You'll need to check you comromis de vente to see what the Notaire included, ours did, up to a 30 day delay but no more.
