Alcazar
Hi all, this is one we haven't done before, but wife wants to go down between Christmas and New Year. Are the chain hotels likely to be open/closed/packed solid? Will I still get fuel on motorways? What will shop opening be like between those dates, ie: food, bread etc shops?I have an abiding memory of going over Easter to Bellac when we went looking for property, and having to travel nearly 30 miles to find a restaurant openThanks,Alcazar
Paris
Both the 26th and the 31st are normal days in France, but this year 26th is a Sunday. This is an out-of-season period (which as you have discovered can include Easter!). Campanile often open at this period, we have used one. Some other chains not at all (see red Michelin guide which now includes chain hotels) Logis de France - many closed but some are open - they are often shut Sundays though. If you can book, do so, as if the weather turns bad hotels fill up, otherwise not usually full. We will be in France at this period, using one or two hotels ourselves - some I would like to stop at close for a while just before we arrive.Julia
