Will Posted March 11, 2005 Share Posted March 11, 2005 Sorry Val, I ended up leaving the wrong message - I believe you were asking, in the two that were deleted, how old the ship is and how reliable the service is likely to be.The ship is a fair bit larger than the P&O Express, and has a more up to date ride control system, so should be less prone to cancellation in heavy weather. It also has a more proven engine type (similar to those used on the better-performing Caen Express) which should also count in its favour, though the standard of maintenance is critical to operating these ships - they are very different from the normal ferries that Brittany Ferries crews are used to.It was originally delivered by its builder, Incat of Tasmania, in November 2000 and was previously operated under the name 'Lynx' by Tranz Rail in, I think, New Zealand.It starts operating next week, I believe, so we shall see.
