Red Devil
Can you get a direct flight to Clermont-Ferrand from any of the main UK airports (Manchester, Heathrow, etc). Thanks
Iceni
AZ World Airlines shows only Air France using Auvergne Intenational so I suggest that you start trawling their site.HTHJohn not
Ecossais
Here’s a link to the airport’s website – it doesn’t look like there are any direct flights to the UK. http://www.clermont-fd.cci.fr/aeroport/aeroport.php Looks like your only options are Standsted / Liverpool to Limoges by Ryanair or Standsted to Lyon by EasyJet - both 127 miles from Clermont-Ferrand according to Microsoft Autoroute! Red Devil
Thanks for the replies.... we'll probably end up using Limoges, as we're thinking of staying in la Bourboule / le Mont-Dore area
St_Jacques
Why not try St.Etienne with Ryan Air?
Red Devil
Yep.... it might be an option. I could be wrong, but it looks like a quicker road from Limoges on the D979 compared to St. Etienne and the D996.Thanks again though for the advice
Ecossais
If your destination is west of Clermont-Ferrand then Limoges will probably be a shorter drive from the airport. However what may help sway it for you is the cost and times of the flights. As an example if you fly out on Monday 1st August, Stansted to Limoges is £69.99 (Ryanair, one way, excluding taxes); St Etienne (Ryanair) is £29.99 and Lyon (EasyJet) £23.99 / £29.99. The difference between the dearest and cheapest flights for a family of 4 is £220 (including taxes) and that’s just one way – enough to pay for the hire car! The prices of flights go up and down – Limoges could be the cheapest on another date. It pays to shop around, and if you dont mind a slightly longer drive, you could save a fair amount.
