Lapaix
Not strictly speaking, to/from France, but I didn't know where else to post this! My husband and I want to travel by train from Vire to Paris - is it cheaper to prebook on the internet, or just the same price paying on the day at the ticket office? Also, what's the best station to get off at for the Louvre? Thanks, in advance!Lynda

Lapaix
Yes, they would make the cheapest day a Tuesday - that's the only day the Louvre is closed, the very reason we are going! But thanks, anyway!Lynda
Will
I do that trip often - in fact did it only yesterday. It's easier to book in advance as you get a free seat reservation that way, though on the last two occasions that was a farce as the seat and coach numbers on the tickets bore no resemblance to where the reservation tickets were placed on the trains. I find the fare works out much the same most days at 29.70€ each way whenever you go, but you can often get a 'decouverte à deux' deal if two people travel together. Nearest Metro to Louvre is, believe it or not, Palais Royal Musée du Louvre, on Line 1. From Montparnasse take Line 4 towards Clignancourt, change at Chatelet.
