Crevette
I saw an advert for this in the metro (Paris) today ;http://www.transatlantys.com/I then hunted for "Atlantic Tunnel" with google and found the following ;http://www.atlantictunnel.com/index.htmlHere are some details about how it would work ;http://media.dsc.discovery.com/convergence/engineering/transatlantictunnel/interactive/interactive.htmlWhat I havn't found is - "is this for real?!"-Rob-
Teamedup
I posted about this the other day. Paris, NewYork by train. Will they really do this? It actually sounds slighly mad to me and I don't think I could travel on this train. I'm OK in the Chunnel, but keep my eyes screwed up tight on the Space Mountain ride, which surely is less of a risk than travelling sous Atlantic at high speed in a tube. Crevette
It's very odd - if it is a spoof (as seems likely IMHO) then I can't work out why they would put out a campaign in the metro which would have cost them a fair bit of money...-Rob-
Tourangelle
It is a spoof, I heard about it on France info the day before yesterday. It was suggested that it is a publicity thing for voyages.sncf, who apparently deny it, but personally I do think it is some kind of advertisement stunt. cherries_fan
If it is a spoof then it is very well done - however cast your eyes on this:http://media.dsc.discovery.com/convergence/engineering/transatlantictunnel/interactive/interactive.html
Teamedup
I'm sure I've already seen this program in the not too distant past and I still wouldn't fancy it,even if they do it.
JohnM
Do you think they will wait until the Channel Tunnel has made a proper profit before they start work????
Teamedup
Profit the Chunnel? no chance whilst they keep asking the prices they are asking. Apart from really peak holiday times, I would bet that they have lots of trains with lots of space on them most days of the year.
Crevette
It all makes sense! It is to advertise the sncf-vacances web-site! (where you can book holidays to, amongst other places, New York - by plane of course!).!!!-Rob-
