Le_Jars
How easy is it or how expensive is it to just turn up at a ferry/tunnel terminal and get on a train/ferry?Are there any disadvantages to doing this?
Andrewjspencer
No company will turn you away if you show up at their ferry port office or drive up to the Channel Tunnel toll booth at Folkestone. However, you will usually pay a much higher fare for doing so. Most of the good value deals the companies offer are only available for booking 24-48 hours ahead and some charge more for doing so by phone than over the web.My advise would be to pre-book whenever you can. Will
I've never noticed much difference when booking late, even on turning up at Portsmouth or Caen, with Brittany Ferries, but then some would say BF is expensive enough anyway. If you are looking for any special offers then yes, you do need to book in advance.
