kip
We are travelling down from the Eurotunnel towards Caen and onto Domfront late on Christmas Eve and then back again late on Boxing Day.Does anyone know if it possible to buy fuel anywhere on this route on these days. It's our first year with a place in France and we have never travelled the Autoroutes at these times. Does the country completely shut down or will the petrol stations on the Autoroute be open? Mpprh
Hithe autoroute fuel stations are open over Xmas. Many supermarkets & garages have card operated automated pumps. These work with French credit/debit cards and may or may not work with foreign cards depending on issuing bank.Peter
Jerac
Also available at strategic places on Autoroutes are 'depannage carburant' points, often at or near peages. These are a basic (french)card operated pump delivering petrol or diesel available 24/7, but are limited to about 70euro.
Val_2
December 26th is a normal full working day in France so service stations and supermarkets will be open as usual for you to pay by cheque or cash as well.
