powerdesal
I need advice,I have to get from Villedieu Les Poeles to London Gatwick to pick up aflight at 0900 on a Friday morning. No car. Does anyone have any goodideas about the 'best' way to do the journey. It is probably shamefulto admit that I have not used public transport ( in either country) formany years hence I am totally out of practice. Any / All ideaswelcome. Many thanks in advance
Will
If I was doing it I would go by train from Villedieu to Paris Montparnasse, then use either Paris-Gatwick flights or Eurostar to London, followed by Gatwick Express to the airport, depending on time and cost constraints. You may be able to do Eurostar to Ashford, then get to Gatwick by train from there, but that would involve changes at Maidstone and/or Tonbridge and Redhill. I think either way you may need to set off the previous day and do an overnight stay at Gatwick, as if the flight goes at 9am you will need to check in at 7am. The other way would be to find somebody to drive you to an airport like Dinard or Rennes, which will get you to Stansted and be cheaper (there are buses linking all London airports direct, as well as trains that involve changes) but that would definitely mean a departure very well in advance. You could try finding an itinerary using a site like www.voyages-sncf.com.
