Rob G
I know there is some level of national strike action tomorrow, as our kids are off school. In a week's time we have some visitors arriving from the UK via the LD Lines service from Portsmouth to Le Havre. I'm just wondering, if there are calls for renewed strike action, what's the likelihood of the LD service being affected? Thanks,Rob
Brilec
A poster on another forum, who was travveling on LD tonight, rang them to check, and was told that the strikes would have no effect on their service.Whether he will be able to get out of the Port of Le Hevre on the other hand......... Will
Ferries from Britain to France are not likely to be affected, but whether ferries will be able to leave France on 28th is another matter. LD Lines is crewed mostly by Italians, so the ferry could sail in the event of a national strike affecting services, but whether port staff would allow it if they are on strike is another matter altogether. In fact the whole crewing situation on LD Lines is the subject of separate action by the French seamen's union - this has not caused any cancellations although there have been delays at Le Havre due to industrial action. Hopefully the situation will be resolved to some extent when the ship transfers to the UK flag.
