Polremy
We have friends who have bought a holiday house whose nearest airport is Carcassonne. They do occasionally use Montpelier too, although it is a little further away. They visit their French house probably 5 or 6 times a year (teachers) and have now bought a car here in france since the cost of all this car hire was prohibitive. They now need to find somewhere to leave their car close to Carcassonne Airport, often for 2 months at a time, while they are in England. Does anyone have any ideas? Obviously the airport parking would be too expensive and just abandoning it in a local street would be a bit risky. Sometimes I think residents who live close to airports will store cars on their land for a reasonable fee. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks in advance. Benjamin
Not knowing the area around Carcassonne this may be a non-starter but try to find places, usually farms, where they do winter storage of touring caravans/camping cars. Many French people do not actually tow their little old caravan but leave it stored for 11 months of the year and then the owner of the storage facility (hivernage) delivers it to their chosen site and collects it and returns it to storage when the holiday is over.I tried looking in our local Pages Jaunes but only came up with one listing in the Camping: articles et accessoires section where someone providing hivernage listed their facility. Otherwise visit a camp site in the area close to the airport and ask them if they know anyone who does hivernage. Alternatively ask at the local tourist offfice.Benjamin
Benjamin
I'm clearly bored this afternoon but I've just Googled "hivernage Carcassonne" and turned up quite a few. Try it.Benjamin
Mpprh
HiYou may find the airport parking is not too bad.I know people who have an annual season ticket for Nimes airport, rather than get the taxi home on each trip. Peter
