Lollie
HiTravelling across on Thursdayby fastcraft, does anyone know at what gale force or wave height this crossing is generally cancelled?Lollie
Will
If you are travelling with Condor, expect cancellations if the wind force is 6 or more. HD Ferries uses a rather less sea-kindly craft than the normal fast craft used on the Channel so I would be looking at possible cancellation at 2-2.5m wave height, which equates to Beaufort Force 5. Sprogster
As someone that travels this route on a regular basis a lot depends on the wind direction, swell and tide. As if there is little or no swell coming from the Atlantic and the wind is from the East or South the sea conditions can be surprisingly moderate even with strong winds.Condor will normally operate up to Force 6-7 on this route, as I have experienced on many occassions! The good news for Thursday is the weather forecast is for a Force 3 becoming Force 2 on Friday. Happy sailings!
