Cat
The Ryanair site has a page showing new routes for 2007, but Angouleme isn't amongst them, yet. http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/newroutes.php?pos=MYFLIGHTThere is nothing in their press releases either. It may just be that they haven't crossed the Ts and dotted the Is on the agreement yet.
Brier
From last weeks Charente Libre newspaper (on-line English language version):The scheduled newRyanair service between London Stansted and Brie-Champniers airportnear Angoulême has been put back until April 2008. Originally the aimwas to start daily flights with the low-cost airline from October thisyear. However, the Angoulême Chamber of Commerce and Industry – who arenegotiating the deal - has now announced a new starting date, sayingthat it was worried that starting the service during the off seasonwould not have been a good idea. ‘It was a risk. Imagine if Ryanair hadnot been satisfied with the passenger numbers they were getting – theycould have stopped it the next day,’ said its president Daniel Braud. ‘April is better.’ It’sestimated that there are around 7,000 British households in theCharente. Ryanair’s target will be to have flights at least 85 per centfull. Daniel Braud also said that the work need to lengthen the runwaywas now complete. ‘We just need to finish the terminal building now,’he said, adding that not a great deal of work was required. Thedecision to postpone the London flights means that the airport will bedormant for nearly a year. The loss making Lyon route closes at the endof May. Daniel Braud said he hoped that the arrival of Ryanair wouldultimately attract other airlines to the airport offering other routes.
