tenniswitch
We usually take the train to Paris & spend 1 night before flying out of Charles de Gaulle. The strike scheduled for November 13+ may make that impossible. We're now thinking of renting a car to drop off at CDG the morning of our departure, and need to find a moderately priced hotel in the area to spend one night.Any suggestions? Lizfjr
There are loads to choose from. Why not try the Accor chain? If you google them (or Ibis or Mercure) you will find something to suit.
trevour
Hi,What strike? We depart 20 November and are planning an overnight in Paris also! Aaargh!
RogerW
I can recommend the Kyriad Prestige in Roissy. Reasonably priced and the bedrooms are quadruple-glazed to keep out the noise of the airport. Restaurant is a carvery, but the food is good and there are a dozen or so other hotel restaurants within walking distance if you don't fancy the menu. There is a secure underground carpark and it's next door to the Campanile (part of the same group) so you can share their shuttle-bus to and from the airport terminal.Hope this helps,Roger. Mr Coeur de Lion
We stayed at a hotel near Euro Disney last Jan. 5 star for only about 100 euros a night. Ended up staying for 4 nights in the end as it was so cheap. Can't remember the name of it though, which helps little.
trevour
Hi Does anyone have an update or access to detail on the industrial action program planned for the rail system around France during the next 7 days?In particular to Paris from Brive. Thanks
Will
There are two Ibis hotels near CDG airport, which I have used before. I have checked and they both still have rooms for 20th around £60 - cheap for an airport hotel. There are many strikes planned for the whole of France. In fact the whole rail system is under an 'indefinite stoppage' as from yesterday evening. The strike on 20th is the fonctionnaires, which will probably include customs, immigration, air traffic control, so a French airport is not the place to be if you can avoid it.http://www.france24.com/france24Public/en/news/business/20071113-france-strikes-public-transport-retirement-pension0.html

trevour
Cant stand the pressure -the strike is likely to be prolonged so - cancelled the train and hired a car to drive to CDG and booked in at the Ibis Hotel for 2 nights. Hopefully we can sight see Paris each day before departure on Friday. At least the departure lounge is within walking distance!Bon Voyage.
