Travelling to France - any recommendations?

Hi,

Just stumbled across this site and I'm hoping that someone more enlightened than I am can offer some advice.

We are considering taking a ferry over to France just after Easter for a short break, probably around 3 nights.  I've seen a ferry crossings priced at around £55, which seems very reasonable, from Dover to Calais.

It's something we've never done before, (we've barely visited France at all really).  So, the question is, when we get to Calais, where do we go?  I mean, shall we stay close to Calais or shall we travel further afield - and if so where do you recommend?  Should we drive further inland or take a coatal route?  Where are the prettiest towns?  Come on, what are your recommendations??? [:D]  And, when we find the perfect location who knows where we should stay? Any advice would be appreciated.

There will be 3 of us travelling from the North of England (me, husband and 7 year old) so when we actually arrive in France we don't want to spend our WHOLE break driving.  I'm hoping there's someone on here who can advise us of a perfect 3 day itinerary [:)]  Anyone?

Thanks in advance,

Jen

I think you could have a very reasonable time staying in the area, perhaps going toward Boulogne, Montreuil Sur Mer, St Omer, Le Touquet
