newbiee
Has anybody been to the Sainsbury or Tesco up by the ferry ports (Calais or bolougne, can't remember which)? Is it mostly booze and the like, or is it a fully stocked supermarket, similar to the UK?Thanks very much [:D]

Baz
They both only sell alcohol, unless they have changed in the last 5 weeks. The prices and brands of alcohol can be found on their websites and if you require it can be preordered for collection, although they do need a few days notice.Baz
brianagain
In Sainsburys yesterday I noticed a small range of 'British' goods (baked beans, etc) but otherwise Sainsburys Calais (like nearby Tesco's, Oddbins, Majestic, etc.) is essentially catering to the cross channel booze trade or tourists on their way (back) to the UK. Interesting to note that Sainsburys prices are currently at €1.44 = £1. You can pay at the sterling rate at the checkout but in cash only. Not sure how long this will last given the current low exchange rate (€1.29 = £1). As Baz says above you can check current prices on their website.Brian (again)
