TGV halted as man's arm trapped in toilet

"A sneaky cigarette in a toilet on a

Eurostar train started a fire and caused a four-hour delay for 700

passengers bound for Paris.

Smoke began pouring out of the cubicle as the train approached the French side of the Channel tunnel on Friday. A small fire in a toilet rubbish bin was caused by a discarded

cigarette butt..."

Seems like the train's eventual arrival in Paris resulted in lots of unhappy passengers stranded in the Gare du Nord in the very early hours of Saturday morning.

Not surprisingly the culprit was neither identified or failed to own up - unlike the passenger with a toilet on his arm!

The BBC website said that the train had been travelling in western France from La Rochelle to Bordeaux and that the service had been halted for two hours for the rescue.

Erm ... There isn't a TGV service from La Rochelle to Bordeaux. How much else of the story is true?
