Russethouse
They start betwen 3am and 4am and you should allow over 3 hours between flights

Anton Redman
If you are travelling during the day it may be worth looking at Gatwick Victoria (Non Gatwick express) Victoria Line to Tottenham Hale then train to Stanbstead. Believe the coaches may go via Heathrow.
Théière
To aid your research its STANSTED not Stanstead. The surprising thing is Stansted has a 24/7 national express coach service, Heathrow Doesn'tI had to drive my nephew to Heathrow after contacting national express to check as I could not believe London's premier airport also does not 24 hour tube links. AnOther
For the over 60's you can get a 50% discount card from the coach ticket office at the same time as you buy a ticket.Used to be 50 when I got mine and disappointingly the girl at the counter didn't even ask me for proof of my age [:(]

[/quote]Nowhere in the London area has 24 hour tube links. Also, Heathrow doesn't operate flights on a 24 hour basis, so why should you need to get there in the early hours anyway? Théière
True Albert, however as it is necessary to arrive at the airport a couple of hours earlier than your flight maybe someone should have looked at the flight times and scheduled a tube early enough to be able to use the network or even the coach service. Personally I would rather go by car but the Mayors of London do want us to use public transport and the M4 Heathrow approach road is pathetically small for the number of vehicles using it, to the point that if a vehicle breaks down it causes chaos. AnOther
Like other transport systems the London Congestion Charge does not operate 24/7 either so if you do need to travel that early you won't pay it.Also as an aside for those who may have missed the change, the Dartford Crossing is free now between 22:00 and 06:
Loiseau
Er, Heathrow is well outside the congestion-charge zone! [;-)]Angela
YCCMB
It is indeed outside the congestion charge zone.....however, I think the reason for the remark was that some people might need to travel through the zone to reach Heathrow.[:)].
