dave21478
Anyone ever done this? I havent the faintest idea on prices. Im looking at an artic low loader with payload somewhere between 14 and 20 tons. The truck would be empty france to england, and loaded for the return.Seems hard to get a rough idea of quotes online. I dont have exact vehicle specs yet, I just wanted a rough idea of prices to judge feasability.Hundreds? Thousands? I honestly have no idea at all. Dog
Cheap as chips and you get a greasy fry up for free! The ferries depend on trucks for revenue - prices are not expensive and you can get better prices the more trips you do.Coaches a few years ago only cost £100 per crossing! The ferry companies want 57 people spending money.
dave21478
hmmm, never thought of it that way. I assumed that as adding a trailer onto a normal car crossing involves an un-lubed financial rodgering, a single lorry crossing would be very expensive indeed, as 1 vehicle and driver is taking up the space of 4 or 5 cars and families.I found a few places online, but they need exact lorry specs to quote, and some ask the frequency of the crossings - it would be a one-off, although it might expand in the future, but unlikely more than 2 or 3 a year. Dog
Tell them you are planning 50 a year and see if they buy it.I was offered a good price but they wanted me to prebuy the crossings 20 at a time.
Pierre ZFP
For a 'one-off' think in terms of €30 per metre length of truck - each way!!!This price from my bro in law who untill last year was in the business of haulage. As said above, much cheaper for regular users but you have to establish a track record. Dog
Why not get a quotation from Norman Dentressangle or similar, would make some comparison.
andyh4
If you can't find Norman on the internet, you could try his brother Norbert. Also search for Norfolklines
