mattjazz
We will be at our house near Romorantin-Lanthenay (dept.18) for August. We quite fancy a city break for a couple of days somewhere else up to 3-4 hrs away. I, unfortunately, will have my ankle in plaster and therefore we'd like somewhere with a fair bit to see but not to much walking, or at least plenty of bars (to rest along the way you understand)to pause and watch the world. Any suggestions would be very helpful Matt

Nell
Bordeaux - According to Google it's 3hrs 53min away [:D]When we stay in Bordeaux we book into the Ibis in the Merideck quarter - This is quite close to shops, bars, sights
Cendrillon
I'll second that. Good tram service, easy to get about and there are pedestrianised streets. Place Gambetta is very central, worth searching for a good hotel deal on the 'net..
mattjazz
Thanks, thats more like it. We've never been to Bordeaux, the tram system sounds just the ticket.Any more ?
Hotspur
How about Nantes. Again a good tram system and the bars seemed to be ok during the rugby world cup.
