I work in finance and from my experience all insurance policies have exclusions in the small print, otherwise it would be commercial suicide for the underwriters.

NEVER rely on what you are told by a bank employee as most are simply not trained to a high level of product detail and banks are notorious for miss selling insurance products!

You have to obtain a copy of the detailed terms and conditions, which usually run to multiple pages.

In the event of a claim you are not dealing with the bank but an insurance company like AXA that provides the policy for the bank's card holders.

Nell, you are absolutely right, no questions are asked as if you look on the small print which you only usually get with the policy document, the onous is on you to advise the insurance company of pre-existing health conditions. The reason for this is cost, as the bank does not want to generate lots of paperwork from tens of thousands of customers for a service it provides automatically to its card holders.

Just because questions are not asked does not mean there are not exclusions.
