woolybanana
surely you could fly out over a long weekend andpop in to see the notaire. it might have a sewage works nextdoor!
Sprogster
Increased anti money laundering legislation now makes it impossible to buy property without your identity being checked by a Notaire, which usually means meeting in person at least once, with passport, evidence of primary residential address and details as to source of funds. cooperlola
Whilst I think you're a bit bonkers - it is your money! Perhaps this is one case where taking legal advice from a UK based solicitor well versed in French law would be a good idea? Then they could vouch for your bona fides as per Sprogster's post. Simon
Hi Clown 1,Would this be the land, lake and chalet that's been advertised on ebay a few times? Also how much is "not a lot of money"?
La Guerriere
Post where it is: the chances are there is somebody from the forum nearby who could give you an on the ground opinion.
Northender
I remember a few years ago an article in the Daily Telegraph about people working in the City ringing up Estate Agents in Nelson Lancashire on a Monday morning and buying over the phone any cheap properties that had been put on the market that weekend.Prices at the time , as I recall , could be as low as £8000 for a derelict terraced property.Just pure speculation. cooperlola
THIS place? If so then no, I guess it's not much is it? And it's not as though it's a house, just an amenity.
Chancer
Around here you could buy two of those and still have enough left to buy a modest house in the town for when you get fed up of fishing and want to have some heat, light and home comforts. Not an exaggeration either, perhaps I should buy a few and resell them on E-bay!!I wonder if the notaire has had many enquiries like this one wanting to buy sight unseen. Quillan
I did know of a lady who bought a house in France without ever seeing it, it worked out fine for her, she was not disapointed. Not for me mind, I like to see, touch and feel what I am buying before handing over any dosh.
