minnie
I've read that there's a 48 hour strike w.e.f midnight Thursday 23 Sept....
Pickles
Well, what with the UKBA staff going on a 48-hour strike from Thursday, the French civil servants going on "unlimited" strike from 00:01 on Thursday 23rd, alongside the general strike in France, my chances of getting over there on that day are diminishing rapidly ...RegardsPickles
Stan Streason
I am coming over on Friday 24th. As I read it it is only coming into UK as a problem. Going out may be customs staff but not the immigration service - am I correct? Will the French strike affect their immigration staff?
Pierre ZFP
Going out may be customs staff but not the immigration service - am I correct?
They've combined not into one thing now called 'Border Control' (an oxymoron if ever there was one) so it's one out, all out.Not sure how it would affect ordinary car travellers as you don't see them at all quite often. Are the ships/tunnel still running?
tonyinfrance
We're on an easyjet flight tomorrow LGW to Marseille - the easyjet website indicates no probs. However, we're booked to come back Sunday 26 - is this likely to be an issue or might we be OK?
JeanS
I'm glad I changed my crossing to 21st.Didn't know about all this.
tonyinfrance
Well the outbound trip was perfect: left LGW early yesterday morning & arrived on time, sailing through passport control in Marseille (something you can't take for granted at least in the summer months).Today we have clear blue skies and a good temperature so it's off to the gardening labouring tasks for us! Beau Gus
The strike has been called off pending further talks between the Immigration Service Union and what passes for senior management at the UK Border Agency.
