just john
LD lines say they are to drop their Fast cat from Portsmouth to Le Havre as current traffic is too low to make it pay . . .
tonyinfrance
Shame as it looks like a really nice vessel. We use Newhaven where the LD ferries are not as modern but carry a lot of freight so with luck they will continue with their daily crossings. Chancer
Maybe they will put it back (if its the craft i am thinking of) on the Dover - Boulogne route or even in my wildest dreams Newhaven - Boulogne.
just john
From my understanding they will retain their cruise ship routes because of the Freight traffic, but the cost of running the Cat was excessive and they will return the Cat to its Australian makers. I use LD wherever possible because they represent good value, sometimes half the price of Brittany; but my real concern is that the less operators there are, the less choice and ultimately less reason for the operators to be competitive. My last return trip with LD was under £200 whereas the same trip on a similar route with Brittany was over £400 . . .
Mr Ice-ni
The choices would seem to be1. Pay little and the operator stops operating2. Pay a lot and it keeps going. John
LEO
Surely it is only the fastcat that is being dropped.Their normal ferry will still operate from Portsmouth to Le Havre !
Frederick
Such a shame as I came over on it and found it a great crossing . Brittany Ferries have killed off the Poole route for me and I found LD lines not only very good value as I am being forced to go to Portsmouth Also a good departure time for me in the morning 0830 .There will be Condor into St Malo I can use but a much smaller fast cat and a longer time bouncing the waves. tonyinfrance
One of the many joys of being over 60 is that LDL give us an extra discount - excellent value!
