DraytonBoy
Anyone know anything about the roadworks near Poitiers Airport that is causing delays getting to the airport?
sid
I haven't passed for a few weeks but last time I was there it was obvious that the works were connected with the LGV (Tours to Bordeaux high speed rail line). I say obvious because there are plenty of signs about it.Are there long delays now?http://www.lgv-sea-tours-bordeaux.fr/commune/poitiers/78?site_source=slider&site_content=Poitiers&site_campaign=site&site_medium=commune&site_bar=1http://www.lgvsudeuropeatlantique.org/
DraytonBoy
This is separate to the LGV work and affects getting to and from the airport.
sid
Nothing on the "info trafic" (real time) websites. [8-)]What have you seen exactly? I checked earlier during the "heure de pointe"... all clear.EDIT: Now, at 19:45 it's showing northbound slower traffic on the dual carriageway past the airport. No explanation.http://www.viamichelin.fr/web/Trafic/Trafic_info-Poitiers-86000-Vienne-France?strLocid=31NDJ6Nm8xMGNORFl1TlRjNU56TT1jTUM0ek16a3pNZz09Further edit: This site shows roadworks between Aire des Cent Septiers and Poitiers Nord. Goodness knows why it didn't show earlier... perhaps it comes and goes??? [blink]
DraytonBoy
On the airport website there is a warning of delays getting to and from the airport due to roadworks that don't end until the 30th of September.
sid
We seem to have gone round in a circle here, but you've answered your own question.
DraytonBoy
I'm trying to find out exactly where they are as it's possible to get to the airport via different routes.
LesWeb
The roadworks are to improve a dangerous junction just south of the airport, and as previously noted they are scheduled to continue into the autumn. It means that the dual carriageway is restricted to just one lane in each direction. The best way to approach the airport is from the north on the D910 "Rocade Ouest". You may still be held up a little if the traffic is very heavy, but far less so than when driving from the south.
Jay
We were there yesterday and there was no delays. The roadworks to the south of the airport were no longer in operation and to the north the bridge works for the TGV had stopped so no delays there either.
