Loiseau
There's an interesting website here about Anne Morgan, an American woman who went off to France in 1917 to organise relief for refugees from the battlefield areas and the rebuilding of their shattered homes. This page has a link to Morgan's letters home, which relate her achievements and frustrations. For example, after tireless efforts to start resettling people in the areas that had been retaken by the Allies in late 1916, all the work was undone when the Germans staged their Spring Offensive in March 1918 and the whole area became a battlefield again...Angela
