Christine Animal
Chasseurs are not pleased as the use of « appelants » the live birds, mostly ducks, with wings clipped, used on the water to draw wild ducks, has been prohibited since 24th October and has now been extended to 31st May 2006. This decision has been taken as a precaution against bird flu. They came out on Saturday to show their discontent at Lille, Bordeaux and Rouen where they pelted the Préfecture with eggs, bottles and paint. They then went on to smash shop windows, damage cars, pull up sign posts and traffic lights, burn rubbish bins, etc. and throw things at the CRS who finally managed to break them up with grenades lacrymogènes.Looks like they had a good "chasse"!http://filinfo.france3.fr/popup_afp.php?nameRegion=normandie&id=051217180050.v81i29gl

Christine Animal
It's maybe just a natural instinct, call it "tradition".
chris pp
Would these have been the friends of the hundreds of poachers in the Carmargue earlier this year that couldn't wait for the season to open? Mind you, in that case the authorities "did a Nelson" but I suppose it wasn't in the centre of a town.http://www.lpo.fr/comm/2005/comm-2005-08-17.shtml Did someone say something about the bad behaviour of hunt protesters recently on another thread? Cheers, Chris
