French Drains?????

We have a small cottage in central Brittany that we have as a holiday home for ourselves. In the area they are at the moment sending technicians around from the water board to look into "fosse septiques" etc in line with the overall plan to get mains drainage in many areas. We are not able to be there when they come to us and the neighbour has said he will be around ,but does anybody know if they need access to the house or is it all outside inspection and has anybody had any results and are they very frightening. Also we have an english telly over there and do not seem to pick up anything, we do have an old digital box where can you get a new card and how much are they, do we get in england or in france.

re the drain inspection. I think you should ring or write to the "water board" ( Service Public d' Assainisement ) to tell them that you can't be there as you are in the UK. Have you received a letter yet with an appt? You could suggest that you will ask them to come next time you are in France. The person didn't need to come into our house, but he did need me to show where this and that was, how many people etc. He was very polite although our system is most primitive. He suggested the simplest way to improve it. Your question about the digibox - better to put it on the French Satellite tv etc part of the forum, or do a search there.
