Suninfrance
I have two Spindle trees in my garden and both are covered in what looks like webs which are currently full of caterpillars. Any idea what they might be and how I can get rid of them before they do any serious damage.Jan
Suninfrance
Found it - it's the Spindle Ermine Moth caterpiller. Bet you're glad you know that now !!! Apparently they spin the silk like web to protect themselves from predators such as birds. If you google either Spindle Ermine Moth or Bird Cherry Ermine Moth you will come up with a picture of the moth itself. Quite a pretty little thing.Jan
chris pp
This years been really good for them, Jan [:D] shouldn't worry too much, the spindle will recover and grow new leaves once they pupate.Chris
