Found my first Colorado beetle...

After all these years finally found a Colarado beetle here in 24.

I spent some of my childhood in Lincolnshire and there were wanted posters everywhere for this stripey beetle. So I spent my time looking for them.

It was bigger than I'd imagined - we were told they were same size as a ladybird but this one was twice the size.

Local bio farmer said his aubergines and potatoes were wiped out by them 2 years ago but he used a 'natural substance' from Africa that got rid of them.

Not easy to photograph as quite quick.

I got a good close up of a Colouvre verte and jeune the other week.

Aged 6, I was told that you were paid five shillings if you brought one of these beetles to an English police station. So holidays in France were spent hunting them, intending to smuggle them into the UK in a matchbox. Sadly my parents vetoed this entrepreneurial activity, but I got to see a lot of bugs.
