Limousin Lass
A large swathe of the forest on the hill opposite our house has already been cut down and they are still cutting, the sound of chain saws all day every day, seven days a week, is bad enough but the plaintive cry of some kind of raptor (I think they are Buzzards) as they circle overhead is even worse, they circle for a couple of days and then they disappear, four pairs so far.Why do they have to cut all of this forest down now, why couldn't they wait a few months? powerdesal
Of course the "plaintive" cry of the buzzards may not, in fact, be "plaintive" but rather a call to the others to come and join in the good hunting which has resulted from the disturbance of the environment that makes the resident little beasties easier to see and hence catch. Iceni
Probably because the contractors will be cutting down another forest in a few months time. Crops have to be harvested when men and machines are available.John

chris pp
Cutting of trees in spring and summer is a recent occurrence and the reason is exactly the same reason that we are destroying everything else on the Planet.....Money and greed.Chris
