Up here in North West Mayenne we usually hear them chirping from the end of April until the beginning of October - this year just a few days in May and since then nothing! chris pp Posted July 8, 2008 Share Posted July 8, 2008 The male Field crickets, Grillon-campestre, tend to only chant when it's sunny in spring / early summer when they are trying to attract a female to their hole in the ground, as the year moves on they ease of a bit.
