Swissie
In the ash tree right to the side of the house, about 3 m. from the bedroom window - and just above my bird feeders. That explains the feathers in the snow and we do have many many sparrows (both tree and house). In the UK we had one that would sweep from the lime trees next to our house and take a tit from time to time from the bird feeders. He was there for ages - OH went to get his camera and as he walked back in, sparrowhawk flew away. He'll probably be back soon.

Swissie
I'd never seen one just standing there - only making a blindingly fast swoop, catch a bird and go. This time he was there for a long time, just in front of our eyes. Wonderful.
