Jonzjob
Well this one was for the grass snake that decided that it would be a good meal! From looking at it it may well have been a pregnant female which is a great shame. They are lovely reptiles and do nowt but good for us..I found it floating in the Canal du Midi near where we live this afternoon and thought it was a part of a bike tyre? It seems to have tried to eat a frog that was just toooo big and because the teeth face backwards couldn't let it go. Very sad for both! It was a good 2 foot long. Gardian
Poor old thing.Humans can be a danger too. I was burning a load of leaves the other week and scooped up a double-handful to drop in to the incinerator. There was no fire at the time - it was just pretty damm hot! The snake that had been in the handful shot out through one of the holes in the side like a rocket. I helped him / her back in to the undergrowth and it had gone 10 mins later, but I felt pretty bad about it. Accident: nothing I could do. Hopefully OK.
