Suninfrance
Heard them flying over tonight. Always such a pleasing sound. Wish they would change their route timings to daytime so we could see them.

YCCMB
I've always wondered why, like "fosse", "artisan" and other words, people move to France and forget that there's a perfectly serviceable English word for "grue".
Cendrillon
Cranes as in birds and I am always amused to see that the same word is used for a crane in the building world!Edit:On reflection it's the same word for both things in English so really I should not be surprised. Yonner
They went over here (north Yonne) a few days ago, group of about 50. Bit early this year I think.
johnnyboy
Came over us in northern Haute Vienne on 22nd, these were the first I've seen/heard this year. They were slightly later last year if I remember correctly, but the year before the first ones passed over on the 22nd!I guess each group must have a different travel itinery maybe:)Johnnyboy. Patf
I've been following this story about the grues on the monumental staircase in Auch, (for D'Artagnan), nearly finished:http://www.ladepeche.fr/article/2014/02/07/1812919-auch-encore-du-lourd-pour-finir-l-escalier-monumental.htmlI saw hundreds of the feathered ones this morning while driving north - they were flying so fast, with the north west wind behind them, they kept up with me doing 80kph.I had to stop to watch them.
