Chrisb
I bought this the other day, and would recommend it for your bookshelves!! It is, as the title suggests, along the same lines as the '........for Dummies' books that you can buy in the UK, and covers the history of France from the Ice Age to 2004.It is laid out in a very easy to read format, and the French is pretty straightforward, and quite amusing. There are also highlighted paragraphs giving information about important events/people/battles etc.And at over 800 pages long, if you don't like it, you can use it as a door stop!![:)]Chris
Tony F Dordogne
I'm a pro historian and use/recommend this book when I'm doing talks for Brit groups here in France. Great for anybody wanting a general overview of French history. There's also a great French for Dummies book, well worth the money.
Viv
There's even a Napoleon for Dummies and French wine for Dummies both in English. The Cambridge Illustrated History of France by Colin James is quite good too.And of course, Terry Deary's Horrible Histories 'France', which is very entertaining, to me anyway [Y]
