User no longer member.
Hi, I'm moving to France permanently and to absolutely sure of my understanding of the language I feel the need for a translator software package for my pc. Has anyone tried and can recommend one please?
Anton Redman
I use Systrans but was equally happy with Power Translator. They all have problems with context and adjectival phrases. A living room in the sense of a space in your local tree house is 'une salle vivant' but it should be 'une salle de sejour' or 'une sejour' . They have got bettter over the years boite de vitesses now comes out a gear box rather than box of speeds. If you read the English language version of French web sites you get a feeling of what can go wrong. Rugby League described as the "Heritic's Game" . Using a strawberry ( fraise) in a router etc.

Mr Coeur de Lion
I also use systran, but watch out if you put your name in as sometimes it translates that too. eg my name Richard Hull is always translated to le coq de Richard. Maybe it's telling me something.
